Due to Medford’s location in Long Island’s “Pine Barrens,” the area is poor for farming. Medford began as a community around the Long Island Railroad’s Medford Station. Housing developments slowly grew up around Medford for its convenience to the rest of Long Island’s attraction. Soon the community was a bustling attraction of its own, still entertaining families who visit and reside there.
